In pursuit of redemption has become the
Zach Lund Story. A gold medal
favorite in 2006 and an official member of the 2006 US Olympic Team, Zach
arrived in Torino as the gold medal favorite. In a devastating turn of
events, he was denied the
opportunity to compete in there for testing positive for finasteride, a
masking agent found in the hair restoration medication he was taking – a
medication he had declared on every drug test he had ever taken since 2002.
Zach was forced to leave the Olympic Village on the eve of the opening
ceremonies - his Olympic dream shattered at the last possible moment.
Zach served a one year suspension from the sport, and with the
grace of a true champion returned to Torino on November 9, 2007.
There, in the first event on the track since the Olympics, he
won World Cup Gold on the Olympic Track, setting a new track record
while doing so – the fastest sled ever on the track.
He went on to win the 2007 World Cup Championship along with four
gold medals and while setting two track records.
